The main question I get from anyone who knows nothing about natural diet is, Why would I want to eat a Raw Food Diet?
It seems so ‘way out’ for most people in the modern western world to think that eating Raw Food seems so alien, yet all you need do os look at EVERY other animal on this planet to realise that WE are the only ones who cook anything! In short it is US humans who are ‘way out’, for nature has already provided what we need!
Still this if course is no answer to the question, WHY Raw?
For me it is a case of health!
At an early age I realised that foods such as cooked wheat and meat caused me stomach issues, My friends used to encourage me to eat bread rolls, so that they could watch me turn green, I was a party trick!
But it wasn’t until i was in my 30s really that I started to refine my experiments in order to see clearly what effects foods were having on me directly…
I experimented by taking out refined foods from my diet, such as sugar, and also made sure i wasn’t eating anything processed, like artificial flavourings, colours and preservatives… It wasn’t until I went totally Raw though that I really started to notice how my body was behaving when i ate things that really didn’t agree with it.
If i ate sugar I became sleepy or restless and unable to mentally focus… If I ate wheat my kidneys would ache… Vinegar would make angry, or at least short fused… Grain would cause my joints to ache… this list actually goes on, but whats interesting though, this was all discovered over a number of years one piece at a time.
I wasn’t able to just stop all of this, in fact, I wouldn’t, I didn’t want to until I could hear my body asking me to… so slowly bit by bit I naturalised my eating habits…
SO WHAY DO I EAT A RAW FOOD DIET?
The long and short of it is, I eat raw food BECAUSE I feel better — I feel lighter, I feel satisfied but not physically full or bloated, I feel like I can think all day without wanting a snooze, and I am more productive and less stressed.
I also look healthier, my skin is soft, my eyes are clear…
I Do want to point something out though, I am not 100% raw, because I like to retain the ability to make choices on the fly… If someone has pout effort into making a meal which has some cooked food, I will of course join in, as it is about respect, love and balance… but in my own home time, I look after myself with smoothies, fruit, salads and home made fancy raw foods such as breads and deserts, but not your usual type!
However – I DO my absolute best to avoid ‘toxic foods’ (if that makes sense) at all times… Why would I ever want to eat something which is poisoning my body? really whats the point? taste? fashion? laziness?
This is the first place to start… Begin by cutting out toxins…
